Programs regularly display useful information that they won’t let you access. The file lists in an Explorer folder or an archive, for example, the text of an error message, the list of emails or contacts in your email program, the event log – you may want to take a note of any of these, but in many cases you can’t even copy them to the clipboard. And so you probably waste time taking screen grabs, or spend an age retyping the text you need. It doesn’t have to be this way, though
